The Memphis Grizzlies have signed center Jay Huff to a two-way contract, the team announced in a press release.
In a related move, the Grizzlies waived center Trey Jemison to clear a roster spot.
Huff, 25, is 7-foot-1 and appeared in 20 games with the Denver Nuggets last season, also via a two-way deal. He went undrafted out of Virginia in 2021 and has also spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards, appearing in a total of 11 games between those two teams.
Most of his pro experience has come in the G League, averaging 19.1 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.6 blocks while shooting 57.3 percent from the field and 39.0 percent from 3-point range with the Grand Rapids Gold last season.
He appeared in five games with the Orlando Magic at the Las Vegas Summer League and gave a strong showing — averaging 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks.
Huff becomes Memphis’ third two-way player, joining rookie guard Huff joins Cam Spencer and Scotty Pippen Jr. Teams are allowed to carry three two-ways, so that puts the Grizzlies at the limit.
Jemison, 24, is 6-10 and appeared in 25 games as a rookie last season with the Grizzlies and Wizards. He averaged 6.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in those games. Jemison went undrafted out of UAB in 2023.
The Grizzlies already boast the likes of Jaren Jackson Jr., rookie lottery pick Zach Edey and others in the frontcourt, which means that Huff is likely again destined for more run in the G League.
