The Grizzlies have options. Now comes the question.
According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Memphis once again faces a decision on Ja Morant, and whether a trade is something the organization seriously considers.
It’s not a new idea. As previously reported by Shams Charania, the Grizzlies explored Morant trades ahead of the deadline. Nothing came together.
Now? The conversation could pick back up.
Morant’s season ended early due to an elbow injury, and he appeared in just 20 games. Over the past three seasons, he’s played 79 total. The production hasn’t quite looked like peak Ja, either.
All of that factors in. So does the direction of the team.
Memphis moved on from Jaren Jackson Jr. at the deadline, signaling a shift toward getting younger. Where Morant fits into that timeline, if at all, is still unclear.
He’s owed roughly $87 million over the next two years. That’s not nothing.
The Grizzlies also hold three picks in the top 31, giving them flexibility to reshape the roster quickly.
Which brings it back to the main question: Is Ja Morant still the centerpiece? Or part of the next move?
