The Grizzlies are signing guard/forward Vince Williams to a new three-year contract worth $7.9 million, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
A fourth-year team option will be included as part of the contract, Wojnarowski added.
Along with that move, Memphis is waiving center Bismack Biyombo, who signed as a free agent back in November.
Williams, 23, is 6-foot-4 and was selected with the No. 47 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He has played particularly well recently, offering Memphis a glimmer of hope despite the season-ending injury to star guard Ja Morant.
Through the first 27 games, Williams is averaging 5.9 points and 5.1 rebounds.
Biyombo, 31, is averaging 5.2 points and 6.3 rebounds in 30 games. He was brought on following the season-ending knee injury to starter Steven Adams.
Biyombo spent the past two seasons with the Suns, appearing in 61 games last season, compiling averages of 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds. He has also spent time with the Hornets, Magic and Raptors.
The Grizzlies signed Biyombo to a $5 million deal, but only $1 million of that was guaranteed.
