Well, the Grizzlies have searching for inside help, and it appears they have settled on someone — at least for now.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Memphis intends to sign center Bismack Biyombo off the free agent list, hoping he can help fill the void left by injured center Steven Adams.
Biyombo, 31, is 6-foot-8 and spent the past two years with the Suns, appearing in 61 games last season, compiling averages of 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds. While no one expects him to be the next Adams, Biyombo is generally a physical and active big man with plenty of experience.
He has also spent time with the Hornets, Magic and Raptors. While details have yet to be revealed, Biyombo was likely signed to a veteran’s minimum contract. It may not be guaranteed.
Either way, Memphis could use the help, having lost three straight to open the season.
