The Memphis Grizzlies intend to waive guard Victor Oladipo, acquired in a trade with the Houston Rockets last week.
The move was expected, as Chris Herrington of the Daily Memphian reported that the Grizzlies would waive Oladipo if they were unable to trade him before Thursday’s deadline.
Oladipo was once a star for the Indiana Pacers but his career has been beset by multiple leg injuries since then. He tore his left patellar tendon in the playoffs last April as a member of the Miami Heat.
He’s appeared in just 102 total games over the past five years, and that includes zero this year with the Rockets.
Houston received injured center Steven Adams in exchange for Oladipo and three second-round draft picks. Oladipo is highly likely to clear waivers and will then become an unrestricted free agent.
