Suns star shooting guard Devin Booker could miss up to three weeks with a Grade 1 hamstring strain, per Adrian Wojnarowski and Briand Windhorst of ESPN.
At the very least, Booker is expected to miss Games 3 and 4 as the Suns’ series vs. the Pelicans shifts to New Orleans. The series is currently tied at 1-all.
Booker exited in the third quarter of Game 2, a 125-114 Pelicans upset win. He had 31 points at the time.
At first, the injury was diagnosed as hamstring tightness. Clearly it’s a bit more severe than that.
On Wednesday, Wojnarowski wrote that the “Suns were still evaluating results of an MRI on Wednesday to get a full picture of the injury and a clearer timeline for a return, sources said.”
The Pelicans entered the playoffs with the worst record, the defending Western Conference champion Suns with the best in the NBA. As Wojnarowski and Windhorst noted, the Suns are a slightly-above-average 8-6 in games without Booker.
“The Pelicans are preparing as if Booker will be back sooner than the standard timetable,” per Wojnarowski and Windhorst.
