The Hawks have officially signed center Jahlil Okafor, according to the NBA’s transactions log and RealGM.
Okafor is receiving a non-guaranteed contract to attend training camp, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Okafor, 25, is 6-foot-10 and spent last season with the Pistons. He was traded to the Nets earlier this month then waived shortly thereafter.
The No. 3 overall pick in 2015, he averaged 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in just 27 games last season, failing to crack the Pistons’ big man rotation. He has also spent time with the 76ers, Nets and Pelicans.
Per The Athletic’s Chris Kirchner, it will likely come down to Okafor or recently signed small forward Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot for Atlanta’s final roster spot.
The Hawks currently have 14 players on guaranteed deals and, with the addition of Okafor, will have a full training camp roster of 20.
