The Hawks have been exploring the market ahead of the trade deadline, but they are not seeking a deal for Pistons forward Jerami Grant at the moment, per Zach Lowe of ESPN.
Grant has been linked to the Hawks, as well as multiple other teams, but Atlanta’s talks with Detroit seemingly came some time ago. It doesn’t appear those talks will be revisited (though in the NBA, you never say never).
Grant, 27, is 6-8 and has been out since Nov. 10 with a thumb injury. He still leads the Pistons in scoring at 20.1 points, while also pulling down 4.8 rebounds.
He has been linked to the Jazz and Kings, as well as Trail Blazers and a few others. The Pistons are also fine with keeping him a key piece moving forward, per reports.
“It’s also been reported that any team trading for Grant should be willing to entertain a contract extension with the versatile forward,” RealGM wrote. “Grant is reportedly seeking a four-year deal worth north of $110 million.”
Meanwhile, the Hawks have been in on talks for several players, including 76ers guard/forward Ben Simmons.
Per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Hawks names to watch are John Collins, Danilo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic. All three of those players have been mentioned in the Hawks’ talks with the Sixers, Fischer reported.
