The Hawks might have one of the most interesting chips in any potential Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.
Jake Fischer of The Stein Line wrote that Atlanta could make a real offer by dangling the 2026 first-round pick the team acquired from New Orleans back in June. If Milwaukee ever made Giannis available, that pick would immediately get the Bucks’ attention.
Owning both their own and the Pelicans’ first-rounders in that draft would give them two chances at a franchise changer.
Fischer added an important note, though. He said he has been told repeatedly and “quite strongly” since the start of the season that Atlanta will not trade that “most favorable” first-rounder.
It is the kind of pick that could realistically end up with the best odds at No. 1 overall. Teams do not give those away lightly.
Still, Fischer believes the Hawks would have to think about it if Giannis ever hit the market. You do not get many chances to add a superstar in his prime. And if the cost is a pick that might never be more valuable than it is right now, even the firmest stances can soften.
For now, Atlanta has indicated the pick is off limits. The question is whether that holds if Milwaukee ever opens the door.
