The Hawks have waived center Jahlil Okafor, the team announced in a release.
Okafor, 25, is 6-foot-10 and spent last season with the Pistons. He was traded to the Nets this offseason then waived shortly thereafter. He signed a training camp contract with Atlanta in late September.
The No. 3 overall pick in 2015, Okafor averaged 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in just 27 games last season, failing to crack the Pistons’ big man rotation. He has also spent time with the 76ers, Nets and Pelicans.
Okafor appeared in two preseason games with the Hawks and will return to the free agent market after clearing waivers.
