A lot is being made of a small forward who lost his starting job, but the Suns’ Jae Crowder is still viewed as someone who can help a winning team.
And the Heat seem to believe that Crowder wants to play for them, as relayed by Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. Crowder is away from the team as the Suns seek a trade.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Miami is indeed a team for which Crowder played recently, assisting them in their run to the Finals in the 2020 Disney bubble. So if he prefers the Heat over all other suitors … well, it wouldn’t exactly be a surprise.
Along with the Heat (full post), the Hawks (full post), Cavaliers (full post), Celtics and Grizzlies have been linked to Crowder. It appears even the Jazz have entered the sweepstakes as well.
But as we relayed earlier, sources told Hoops Wire that the Cavs are not currently pursuing a Crowder trade. Same goes for the Celtics and Grizzles, per Fischer.
Crowder basically lost his starting job to Cam Johnson, then immediately decided he wanted to play somewhere else. Opposing GMs have questioned the Suns’ handling of the situation, Fischer relayed.
