The Heat have officially signed guard Kyle Guy to a two-way contract, the team announced in a press release.
While there was no mention in the release, in order to make room for guy, the Heat are releasing guard Marcus Garrett, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.
Garrett had been signed to a two-way deal but is undergoing season-ending wrist surgery, Chiang noted.
Guy, 24, is 6-foot-1 and has appeared in six games with the Heat after signing a 10-day contract. He was averaging 8.2 points and 2.3 assists through Saturday’s games.
He spent each of his first two seasons with the Kings and attended training camp with the Cavaliers this season. Prior to joining the Heat, he had been playing for the G League’s Cleveland Charge.
Garrett, 23, is a 6-5 rookie who went undrafted out of Kansas, and has appeared in 12 games with the Heat. He will spend the rest of the season rehabilitating his injury with the team, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
