The Heat have signed small forward Zylan Cheatham to a 10-day contract via the hardship exception, the team announced in a press release.
Cheatham, 26, is 6-foot-5 and has been playing for the Birmingham Squadron of the G League, averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds on the season. He has also spent time with the G League’s Iowa Wolves and Erie BayHawks.
After going undrafted in 2019, Cheatham appeared in four games for the Pelicans as a rookie. Interestingly, he made his NBA debut vs. the Heat in November 2019.
Guard/forward Caleb Martin is the lone Heat player in health and safety protocols, but Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler, Markieff Morris, P.J. Tucker, and Victor Oladipo are all sidelined with a variety of ailments/injuries.
