The Heat are signing guard Dru Smith to a two-way contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Smith, 24, is 6-foot-3 and went undrafted out of Missouri in 2021. He spent his first two college seasons at Evansville.
He is well-known to the Heat, as he spent last season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami’s G League affiliate, averaging 8.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Smith then played for the Heat entry in the Las Vegas Summer League, before signing a camp deal in September.
As Charania noted, Smith scored 15 points in the Heat’s preseason game on Monday. For now, he will split his time between Miami and back in Sioux Falls.
