The Heat are signing free agent center Thomas Bryant to a two-year, $5.4 million contract, agents Mark Bartelstein and Zach Kurtin told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The second year of the deal consists a player option, Wojnarowski added. The first-year cap hit will come out as about to be $2.53 million, noted Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.
Bryant, 25, was a contributor for the Lakers for the first part of the season, appearing in 41 games and averaging 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds. But he was traded to the eventual champion Nuggets in February and failed to crack the rotation on most nights.
He appeared in just one game during the Nuggets’ playoff run to the title. Still, the Heat are in need of some size and extra protection around the basket, and Bryant will offer at least that much.
