The Heat intend to sign small forward Zylan Cheatham to a 10-day contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Cheatham, 26, is 6-foot-5 and has been playing for the Birmingham Squadron of the G League, averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds on the season. He has also spent time with the G League’s Iowa Wolves and Erie BayHawks.
After going undrafted in 2019, Cheatham appeared in four games for the Pelicans as a rookie. Interestingly, he made his NBA debut vs. the Heat in November 2019.
As of Tuesday morning, the Heat had one player in the health and safety protocol — guard/forward Caleb Martin.
The Heat (18-13) are scheduled to face the Pacers on Tuesday night.
