The Heat have waived shooting guards Jon Elmore and Caleb Daniels and point guard Jamaree Bouyea, and signed forward/center Cheick Diallo, the team announced in a press release.
Elmore was actually waived shortly after being signed to make room for guard/forward R.J. Hampton. (Full Hoops Wire post on Hampton from Brandon Santomauro upcoming).
Elmore, 27, is 6-foot-3 and has not appeared in an NBA game but appeared in 31 games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce last season. The fact he signed with the Heat for a few hours makes it seem highly likely that he’s headed back to Sioux Falls this season.
Diallo, 27, is 6-8 and last appeared in the NBA when he signed a 10-day contract with the Pistons in December 2021. He has also spent time with the Suns and Pelicans and carries NBA career averages of 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in 183 games overall.
Daniels, 24, is 6-4 and like the others is likely headed to the Skyforce.
Bouyea, 24, is 6-2 and appeared in five total games last season as a rookie after signing a 10-day contract with each the Wizards and Heat.
Miami’s preseason roster is full at 21, with 12 players on guaranteed contracts and all three two-way slots occupied.
