The Hornets are signing undrafted UConn power forward Isaiah Whaley to an Exhibit 10 contract, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Whaley, 24, is 6-foot-9 and spent all four seasons at UConn, averaging 8.0 points and 6.2 rebounds in 23 games as a senior. He was named Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year as well.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a contract that counts toward the offseason roster limit of 20, but does not count toward the salary cap unless the player makes the team.
All NBA contracts can be finalized once the new league year begins next week. The Las Vegas summer league tips off July 7.
