Hornets forward Brandon Miller had a pretty dynamic rookie season. This year, he’s been a pretty good sophomore, too.
But now that’s come to an end.
According to a team press release, Miller will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his injured right wrist.
“The Charlotte Hornets announced today guard Brandon Miller underwent surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his right wrist,’ the release read. “The surgery was performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Miller will miss the remainder of the season and updates on his status will be provided as appropriate.”
Miller is averaging 21.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals in 27 games this season. Apparently, those will be his final numbers for Year 2.
It’s too bad, as the Hornets have been injury-plagued over the last two years as they try to develop their young players and build some sort of cohesion. But you can’t get very far when those players are rarely on the court together.
Point guard LaMelo Ball and center Mark Williams have also spent an inordinate amount of time on the injured list. This is no one’s fault. It’s just dumb luck. And the Hornets could definitely use more of the other kind.
On the bright side, head of basketball operations Jeff Peterson and coach Charles Lee seem to be setting a positive culture. Now, if only they were witch doctors who could heal their pain.
