Former No. 2 overall draft pick Marvin Williams has been hired by the Hornets to serve in a front-office position, per Rod Boone of the Charlotte Observer.
Williams, 36, played in the NBA for 15 seasons after being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. That was two spots ahead of Chris Paul, by the way.
He spent six NBA seasons with the Hornets, as well as seven with the Hawks, who drafted him. He also served stints with the Jazz and Bucks.
It likely doesn’t hurt that Williams attended North Carolina — the same traditional power that delivered Hornets owner and NBA legend Michael Jordan.
Williams will assist in the area of player development and player programs off the court, Boone reported.
