Hornets small forward Gordon Hayward will miss the play-in tournament with a foot injury, the team announced in a press release.
Hayward has been suffering from nagging pain in the foot and is out indefinitely. The Hornets say Hayward will be placed in a cast and be re-evaluated in two weeks.
He already missed nearly two months because of sprained ligaments in his left ankle, returning from that eight days ago. He played a mere 17 minutes since returning.
Hayward is averaging 15.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 49 appearances. He is the Hornets’ highest-paid player, with two years and nearly $62 million remaining on his contract.
