A couple of people close to Michael Jordan have received promotions from the Hornets.
According to a team announcement, Buzz Peterson has been promoted to the Hornets’ senior vice president of basketball operations and assistant general manager, and Larry Jordan has been promoted to vice president of player personnel.
Peterson was Michael Jordan’s roommate when the two played at North Carolina in the early 1980s, while Larry Jordan is Michael’s older brother.
Michael Jordan, of course, is the Hornets’ owner. Mitch Kupchak, another former Tar Heel, is the team’s general manager.
Along with the aforementioned moves, the Hornets announced that David Duquette has been promoted to assistant GM.
Peterson is a former college coach, who served stints at Appalachian State, Tulsa, Tennessee, Coastal Carolina and UNC Wilmington from 1996-2014. He was hired by the Hornets as a special advisor to basketball operations in 2016.
