The Hornets kicked the tires on Chris Paul during the offseason, but geography proved to be a deal-breaker.
According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Charlotte was among the teams that expressed interest in the veteran point guard, only to learn Paul wasn’t eager to play so far from his family in Los Angeles. As a result, the Hornets are no longer viewed as a likely landing spot at this stage.
That doesn’t mean Paul’s situation is static.
Stein adds that Paul has become more open-minded about potential destinations beyond the L.A. area, given his current situation. For now, he remains under contract with the Clippers and will become trade-eligible on Monday, a development that could spark renewed conversations around the league.
Whether those talks lead anywhere is another matter, but Paul’s market may soon be clearer.
