LeBron James returns to Rocket Arena on Friday. The Cavaliers would like to give him a different ending than the one they provided on opening night.
The Cavs host the Sixers at 7:30 p.m. ET in their NBA Cup opener, with Prime Video carrying the game nationally. For Northeast Ohio viewers, that’s the place to watch.
Cavs vs. Sixers TV and streaming guide
| What you need | Friday’s information |
|---|---|
| Tipoff | 7:30 p.m. ET |
| Location | Rocket Arena |
| National streaming | Amazon Prime Video |
| Broadcast coverage begins | 7 p.m. ET on Prime Video |
| Northeast Ohio radio | WTAM 1100 AM and WMMS 100.7 FM |
How to stream the game
Open the Prime Video app on your television, phone or other supported device and select Sixers vs. Cavaliers. This is the Prime Video NBA broadcast, so an additional NBA League Pass subscription isn’t needed.
Philadelphia-area viewers also have an NBC Sports Philadelphia option through participating providers, including Fubo where the channel is available. That regional feed isn’t a general viewing option for Cavs fans in Northeast Ohio.
Cavs injury report
The Cavs have three rotation players listed as questionable.
- Jarrett Allen: Right knee contusion.
- Peyton Watson: Right hamstring injury management.
- Tyrese Proctor: Left ankle sprain.
Jaylon Tyson remains out with a right ankle sprain, while Nae’Qwan Tomlin is out with a low back stress reaction. Those designations could change before tipoff.
For the Sixers, Adem Bona is doubtful with a cervical spine sprain. Dominick Barlow and Ariel Hukporti are out. Neither James nor Joel Embiid appeared on the team’s initial injury report for the matchup.
What to know before tipoff
The Sixers arrive at 8-1 with five straight wins. The Cavs are 4-4 after losing twice to the Thunder, still looking for the sustained play that has escaped them early.
There’s also the matter of opening night. The Cavs built a 29-point lead in Philadelphia and lost 114-106. They don’t need another reminder that good stretches aren’t enough.
James’ return will draw the attention. For the Cavs, the more pressing issue is giving Donovan Mitchell, James Harden and Evan Mobley a chance to finish a game without first having to recover from a long lapse.
As Harden put it after Wednesday’s loss, “We’re eight games in and we have to start figuring it out soon.”
Friday offers a useful place to start.
