During an interview with NBA reporter Brian Robb of MassLive.com, Jaylen Brown spoke about the Boston Celtics‘ crunch-time offense.

Brown acknowledged that the Celtics have to improve their offense in clutch situations.

“I think it’s an area of improvement for sure,” Brown said. “For the most part, we haven’t been in those situations, which has been a good thing, but definitely something we can improve on going into the playoffs, something that we can look at. I trust our guys, I trust our coaching staff that, you know, with the amount of talent and brain power we got, we will be alright.”

The Celtics blew a 22-point lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in their last game. Brown and Co. were outscored 34-17 in the fourth quarter.

Brown, one of the top players in the NBA, is open to becoming more involved in crunch-time.

“For sure,” Brown said. “I guess it depends on like, you know, how the team is guarding what coverage they are in because we always let the game kind of decide. If it calls for me to be (involved), I’d love to, but if it doesn’t, then I’m ok with that as well.”

The Celtics have the best record in the NBA at 48-13. They are third in the league in points per game and fourth in points per game allowed.

“We’re not perfect but we’ve done a better job this season,” Celtics star Jayson Tatum said after the Cavaliers game. “Could have did a better job tonight. Maybe our spacing, our execution, working to get a great shot, have to do that every single time. I think we’ve been pretty good this year with crunch time offense, but tonight just, we didn’t do a good enough job and that’s ok as long as we respond and fix it.”

Brown is averaging 22.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists this season while shooting 50.0% from the field, 35.4% from beyond the arc and 72.1% from the free-throw line.
