Jaylen Brown pushes back on Brian Scalabrine: ‘None of that is true’

Jaylen Brown is trying to get started with the Sixers. He keeps having to explain how things ended with the Celtics.

This time, Brown addressed Brian Scalabrine’s claim that he presented Boston with demands and wanted a trade.

“Never had any issues with Scal,” Brown said after Wednesday’s win at Indiana, via The Philadelphia Inquirer. “I love Scal, but I guess he’s doing what he has to do.”

Then came the part Brown wanted to make especially clear.

“I never demanded a trade. Never made a list of ultimatums. None of the sort. None of that is true.”

Scalabrine had already backed away from his initial account, saying Brown “technically” didn’t demand a trade and acknowledging he didn’t know what the supposed demands were.

Needless to say, those are fairly important details.

A source told The Inquirer that Brown asked for input on his destination if Boston traded him, corroborating an earlier ESPN report. That’s a different conversation from demanding to leave.

Brown hasn’t hidden his disappointment with how the Celtics handled his departure. But being unhappy about a trade and asking for one aren’t the same thing.

“I have no interest [in] letting any false allegations [follow] me to my next chapter here in Philadelphia,” he said.

The basketball reunion comes Nov. 10, when the Sixers first face Boston. Until then, Brown would prefer to discuss the team he actually plays for.

Given how this week has gone, somebody may need reminding.
