Jaylen Brown’s camp calls Celtics trade-demand claim ‘10000% a lie’

Jaylen Brown is playing for the Sixers. How he wound up leaving the Celtics is still generating almost as much discussion as anything he’s doing in Philadelphia.

Now his camp is pushing back on the suggestion that he forced his way out.

A representative for Brown called claims that he demanded a trade or presented Boston with a list of demands “10000% a lie,” according to Kris Rhim of ESPN.

That response followed comments from former Celtics forward and current NBC Sports Boston analyst Brian Scalabrine, who said Brown requested a trade and was “rooting to be traded to Milwaukee.”

Brown’s representative offered a different account. After a potential deal involving Giannis Antetokounmpo fell through, Boston informed Brown he would be traded anyway. His request, according to the representative, was to have input on where he landed.

Scalabrine later softened the trade-demand claim, though he maintained Brown had presented demands.

“So technically, he did not demand to be traded. It was, ‘Do these things right here or else,’” Scalabrine said, while acknowledging he didn’t know the specific ultimatum.

“I haven’t gotten to the bottom of all that,” he added.

Boston ultimately sent Brown to Philadelphia for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-rounders.

Meanwhile, Brown and former teammate Jayson Tatum have both denied having a feud. Brown has also repeatedly praised Tatum’s “hell of a PR team,” which probably hasn’t helped put the subject to bed.

“There’s no beef,” Brown said, “but it’ll be a little lamb chop.”

So the partnership is over. The conversation about how it ended? That one still has some legs.
