The Utah Jazz have spoken to the Toronto Raptors about potentially acquiring guard Bruce Brown ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline, per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
Brown has been drawing loads of interest and has been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and multiple others.
Per Fischer, the Jazz and Raptors discussed the framework of a deal that would send Utah forward Kelly Olynyk and shooting guard Ochai Agbaji to Toronto in exchange for Brown.
“The Jazz, according to league sources, have discussed a framework with the Raptors that would bring Brown to Utah in return for Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji,” Fischer wrote. “What draft capital could be part of that conversation remains to be seen, but Toronto has been consistent with its messaging to rival teams that it is looking for a first-round pick for Brown, sources said.”
Brown was acquired by the Raptors in the Pascal Siakam trade with the Indiana Pacers last month. He is averaging 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists, shooting 47 percent from the field and 33 percent on 3-pointers.
He signed with the Pacers in free agency and is making $22 million this season with a team option worth $23 million for next. That’s viewed as a highly tradeable contract and the Raptors, no doubt, could get something valuable in return.
Olynyk is averaging 8.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists, shooting 56 percent from the floor and 43 percent on threes. He’s in the final year of a contract that is paying him $12.2 million.
Agbaji is in his second season and was acquired in the Donovan Mitchell trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is averaging 5.4 points and 2.5 rebounds. He’s making $4.1 million this season.
