Jazz lose to Hornets, but pick up crucial lottery win: ‘I think the process for our guys was good’

The Jazz keep losing and at this point in the season, hey man, that’s OK. Utah’s 110-106 road defeat to the Hornets extended its skid to six. Meanwhile, Charlotte snapped a five-game skid. Will Hardy, Keyonte George, Jazz, NBA

“This is another game where I think the guys did a lot of things that could have led to a win,” Jazz coach Will Hardy said, via Eric Spyropoulos of Jazz.com. I think the process for our guys was good tonight.”

No problem, though. This game was for the purpose of increasing your odds in the NBA Draft lottery, not making them worse. And when it comes to that, the Jazz (16-60) are even better than the Hornets (19-56).

Yes, Utah became the first team to lose 60 games this season. At this point, they may as well make it 66. This is all about the lottery now, and the draft, and seeing what develops next season.

And perhaps no team could use the No. 1 overall pick and Duke star Cooper Flagg like the Jazz.

“Utah has a greater need for Flagg than any of the other teams jostling for a superior lottery position,” wrote Zach Kram of ESPN. “The Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets are still early in their rebuilds, while the Charlotte Hornets already have a potential dynamic duo in LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller. Plus, the New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers should be competitive again next season with better health.”

Keyonte George led the Jazz with 20 points. Brice Sensabaugh added 19, and Isaiah Collier scored 17. Charlotte’s Miles Bridges led all scorers with 26.
