There may be no truth to the rumors that the Jazz are looking to split up guard Donovan Mitchell or center Rudy Gobert, per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.
In fact, there’s strong belief that the Jazz will retain both and continue to try to build around their anchors.
Much of the speculation, Fischer reported, appears to be fueled by those outside of the organization, with CAA agency perhaps leading the charge.
The Jazz lost to the Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs, and multiple reports have said Knicks executive William “Worldwide Wes” Wesley has Mitchell on the radar. But as Fischer noted, Jazz owner Ryan Smith is looking to build a true contender, with top executive Danny Ainge leading the charge.
The Jazz also will serve as host of the 2023 All-Star Game. Rebuilding is not something they want to do with the entire NBA universe embarking on their city, Fischer suggested.
While Gobert has been linked to the Mavericks and Hawks, the Jazz would appear more likely to move players such as forwards Royce O’Neale and Bojan Bogdanovic, or veteran point guard Mike Conley if they are looking to reshape the roster.
The Clippers and Knicks could have an interest in Conley, as he is a CAA client, Fischer noted.
