The Utah Jazz intend to sign forward Micah Potter to a two-way contract, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
A native of Mentor, Ohio, Potter is 6-foot-10 and appeared in 16 games with the Jazz this past season after signing a two-way deal. He appeared in seven games with the Jazz in 2022-23 and three games with the Detroit Pistons as a rookie the year before that.
Potter, 26, began his college career at Ohio State before transferring to Wisconsin. Overall, he has played 26 NBA games and carries career averages of 3.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 0.3 blocks and 51.5% shooting, including 43.3% on 3-pointers (13-of-30).
He spent most of last season with the Salt Lake City Stars of the G League, averaging 15.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.8 blocks.
Perhaps most impressively, he spent last month as a member of the Team USA select team that scrimmaged the current group of Olympians. Potter spoke to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports about the experience.
“I always belonged,” Potter said of his Team USA experience. “I always felt like I belonged, I competed like I belonged and I performed like I belonged. I never had doubt beforehand, but being on the floor with the best players America has, it just confirmed my confidence.”
Potter added that he told Team USA star LeBron James, “Just so you know, I’m from Northeast Ohio, too.”
