The Jazz have waived NBA free agent training camp invitees Isaiah Wong, Max Abmas and Taevion Kinsey, the team announced in a press release.
All three were on Exhibit 10 contracts and are likely headed to the Salt Lake City Stars of the G League. None saw any action in either of Utah’s preseason games.
Wong, 23, is a former No. 55 overall draft pick who spent last season with the Pacers on a two-way deal. He was among those who played in the G League Invitational tournament earlier this month.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward an NBA team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.
The Jazz are set to enter the regular season with 15 players on guaranteed contracts and three on two-way deals, effectively filling out their roster. While those 18 players are expected to be on the opening night roster, Utah could continue to rotate players through the remaining three spots on its 21-man preseason roster over the next couple of weeks. Such moves would, of course, be made for G League rights or bonus-related purposes.
