The Jazz have waived forward Stanley Johnson, as relayed by Sarah Todd of the Deseret News.
Johnson, 26, is 6-foot-6 and was acquired from the Lakers, along with guard Talen Horton-Tucker, in exchange for guard Patrick Beverley.
The No. 8 overall pick by the Pistons in 2015, Johnson will become an unrestricted free agent upon clearing waivers. So there stands a good chance he could end up on another roster before the season tips off next week.
In 48 games with the Lakers last season, Johnson averaged 6.7 points and 3.2 rebounds. He signed a total of four 10-day contracts in 2021-22 — one with the Bulls, followed by three with the Lakers. He eventually signed a standard deal with LA in late January.
Along with the Lakers, Bulls and Pistons, Johnson has spent time with the Pelicans and Raptors.
The Jazz will need to release another player by Monday to be at the regular-season roster limit of 15.
