Jazz center Damian Jones is exercising his $2.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Jones, 27, was acquired from the Lakers in a three-team trade that also included the Timberwolves at the February deadline. He appeared in 19 games with the Jazz, averaging 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds, shooting 71 percent from the field.
Before that, he played 22 games with the Lakers. He has also spent time with the Kings, Hawks, Warriors and Suns since entering the NBA as the final pick of the first round (No. 30 overall) in the 2016 draft.
For his career, Jones is averaging 5.2 points and 3.4 boards. And while he doesn’t take many 3-pointers, he’s connecting on 38 percent of them for his career. He is mostly known for his work around the rim defensively.
