Forward Lauri Markkanen had a banner year in his first season as a member of the Jazz, and fittingly has been rewarded for his efforts.
Markkanen, part of the Donovan Mitchell trade with the Cavaliers, has been named NBA Most Improved Player for the 2022-23 season.
Markkanen started his career with the Bulls, spent last season in Cleveland, then found a basketball rebirth with the Jazz — averaging 25.6 points and 8.6 rebounds.
Those averages were up from 14.8 and 5.6, respectively, from last season.
More to come …
