All-Star center Joel Embiid has been upgraded by the 76ers to doubtful for Game 3 vs. the Heat, scheduled for Friday in Philadelphia.
Embiid was originally listed as out. The Sixers trail the series, 2-0, as Embiid has missed both games while in concussion protocol with a facial fracture. If he does return, he is expected to be sporting a protective mask.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the 76ers are optimistic that Embiid will be able to play. Embiid will “need to feel comfortable” before given the go-ahead, Charania wrote.
If Embiid can’t play in Game 3, there is a sense that he will undoubtedly be able to return for Game 4 on Sunday, also in Philadelphia.
