Veteran point guard and former No. 1 overall pick John Wall might not be returning to the NBA, but he doesn’t appear to be headed to Italy, either.
That’s because Wall refuted a report that he’s been in talks with Italian club Armani Milan, as first reported by Mundo Deportivo.
“Where Do Y’all Get Ur Info from? False News !!” Wall tweeted in response to an NBA aggregation account that reshared a report that Wall might sign overseas.
As for the NBA, Wall held a workout in front of several teams in Las Vegas last month, though he has yet to draw enough interest to receive even a training camp invite. That could change between now and the start of camp in October, of course. But for now, that is where he stands — unemployed.
Wall, 32, was traded from the Clippers to the Rockets at the trade deadline in February, then immediately waived. He sat out the entire 2021-22 season with Houston as both Wall and the team sought a trade, but to no avail.
He eventually landed with the Clippers in a free agency deal, averaging 11.4 points and 5.2 assists in 34 games, shooting 41 percent from the field.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, Wall was rumored to have drawn some interest from the Wizards, the team with which his career began. But that was at the end of the season, and Washington has made several significant roster changes since then.
So for now, Wall remains a man without a team, but a man who also isn’t heading to Italy anytime soon.
