The Warriors are finalizing a four-year contract extension with shooting guard Jordan Poole, agents Drew Morrison and Austin Brown told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The deal will be worth $140 million, per Wojnarowski.
Poole, 23, is 6-foot-4 and was originally drafted out of Michigan with the No. 28 overall pick in 2019. He is coming off a breakout season, in which he averaged a career-high 18.5 points and 45 percent shooting in 76 games. Viewed as part of the Warriors’ long-term future, he played a major role in helping them win the title.
The news comes fresh off Poole’s practice altercation with forward Draymond Green, who is up for an extension of his own. It’s been reported their fight involved Poole referring to their contracts — as Green has said publicly he doesn’t believe he will get an extension.
While details are still being ironed out, Poole’s rookie-scale extension will be the largest of the year, minus the max deals given to 2019 draft classmates such as Pelicans forward Zion Williamson, Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant and Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland.
