Former Euroleague standout J.R. Holden is set to take over the Nets’ director of scouting and become general manager of the G League’s Long Island Nets, per Emiliano Carchia of Sportando.
Holden, 44, currently serves as the Nets’ director of player personnel. He will be replacing Matt Riccardi, who left after 13 years with the organization for a front-office role with the Mavericks.
Holden won championships as a guard with CSKA Moscow from 2002-11, before going on to become a scout with the Pistons and 76ers. He has been with the Nets for three seasons.
He played college basketball at Bucknell and high school basketball at the Linsly School in Wheeling, W.Va.
As we relayed earlier, the Nets are reportedly nearing a deal with free agent forward Markieff Morris as they seek veteran help in the frontcourt.
