Nets star Kevin Durant is on track to return to the lineup Thursday vs. the Heat or Sunday at the Celtics, acting coach Jacque Vaughn told reporters, via Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
Durant has been out since Jan. 15, when he suffered a knee injury vs. the Pelicans. Brooklyn remains without recent acquisition Ben Simmons, and the status of Kyrie Irving playing in home games moving in forward remains very much up in the air.
Still, Durant’s presence will be a big boost to a Nets squad desperately in need of one. He is averaging 29.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 36 games.
The Nets currently sit in eighth place in the tight Eastern Conference race. Coach Steve Nash is currently in health and safety protocols, but reportedly hasn’t experienced symptoms.
