Mike Brown and the Kings are coming off a banner year, but they’re not stopping there.
Instead, the NBA Coach of the Year and the franchise are looking for ways to build off this year’s run.
So Brown is in Greece to take in the EuroLeague game between Olympiacos and Fenerbahce, as relayed by EuroHoops. Specifically, Brown will be scouting Greek forward Sasha Vezenkov, who was selected by the Nets in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. The Kings acquired his NBA rights last year.
Vezenkov, 27, is 6-foot-9 and recently drew mention from Kings GM Monte McNair. Word is, Vezenkov could be headed to Sacramento as soon as next season.
That would undoubtedly add to an already deep team featuring the likes of point guard De’Aaron Fox, center Domantas Sabonis and rising rookie forward Keegan Murray.
“Right now we’re enjoying watching him and his team,” McNair said of Vezenkov. “… So we’ll sit down and see what our offseason looks like, and that will be a decision for later in the summer.”
