Kings center Domantas Sabonis is listed as questionable for Game 3 vs. the Warriors with a sternum contusion, sustained in the fourth quarter of Game 2.
The injury is a result of Warriors forward Draymond Green stomping on Sabonis after Sabonis fell to the floor and grabbed Green’s leg. Green has received a one-game suspension for the incident.
Sabonis underwent imaging on his sternum immediately following the game, but they returned negative, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Kings currently lead the series against the defending champions by a 2-0 count, with Game 3 set for Thursday at Golden State. Sabonis played at least 35 minutes in each of those first two games.
Should he not be able to play, Kings coach Mike Brown is likely to lean heavily on fellow big men Trey Lyles and Alex Len.
The Kings’ statement on Sabonis’ injury read as follows:
“The Sacramento Kings announced today that center Domantas Sabonis received a medical evaluation that included X-ray imaging on Monday night and Tuesday afternoon. Results showed Sabonis sustained a sternum contusion during the fourth quarter versus the Golden State Warriors on Monday, April 17. Sabonis will be listed as questionable for Thursday’s game versus the Warriors.”
