The Kings have ended their trade talks with the 76ers for available star Ben Simmons, at least for the time being, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Wojnarowski reported that the Kings have been an “eager suitor” of Simmons, but are turning their attention elsewhere. They do intend to stay aggressive in seeking a deal with other teams.
Along with the pursuit of Simmons, the Kings have been eyeing Pacers power forward Domantas Sabonis and center Myles Turner, as well as Pistons forward Jerami Grant. All three of those players are also said to be available ahead of the Feb. 10 trade deadline.
It is believed Sacramento has made guards De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton off limits, though just about everyone else is said to be available. That includes small forward Harrison Barnes, shooting guard Buddy Hield and center Marvin Bagley III.
The Kings are also reportedly seeking a second-round pick for little-used center Tristan Thompson.
The 76ers and Simmons have both been hopeful of finding a trade since around late July. Simmons, 25, has yet to appear in a game this season.
While the Sixers could wait until the summer to find a deal, multiple reports have suggested they are engaged with a number of teams in exploring a move before the deadline.
