Kings interim coach Alvin Gentry will miss Wednesday’s game against the Wizards on Wednesday after testing positive for COVID-19, as relayed by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Gentry replaced Luke Walton, fired last month after a less-than-stellar start. Sacramento is 5-6 under Gentry. That includes a three-game losing streak entering Wednesday.
As of Wednesday afternoon, there had been no official word on who would replace Gentry. Assistants Mike Longabardi and Doug Christie “are the most likely candidates,” Wojnarowski reported.
Gentry will need to return two negative tests in a 24-hour span before being allowed to return to the bench. He told Wojnarowski he was asymptomatic aside from a scratchy throat.
