Kings rookie forward Keegan Murray has been cleared to resume all basketball activites following wrist surgery, according to James Ham of The Kings Beat.
Murray, 22, is 6-foot-8 and was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. This is good news, given he should move right into the starting lineup, or at least be counted on to play a major role.
Ham first reported that Murray was expected to have minor surgery on the wrist, and several reports suggested the rookie was expected to be ready for training camp. With camp just several weeks away, those reports appear to be the accurate.
Murray was fantastic in Summer League, averaged 23.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals on his way to being named MVP. Last season at Iowa, he had a breakout campaign as a sophomore, compiling averages of 23.5 points and 8.7 boards.
The Kings are aiming to break a 16-year playoff drought that began before the invention of the iPhone. Murray and new coach Mike Brown are two of the reasons they believe their is hope.
