The Kings are among the teams interested in a trade for Wizards guard Bradley Beal, with the sides discussing the possibility, per Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic.
Beal has reportedly been made available, though the Wizards hardly seem desperate to move him. But they reportedly have opened the phone lines for trade calls.
Per Charania and Amick, the Kings and Wizards have not been able to “a clear pathway” to a Beal trade. In other words, should one surface, it would likely need to include a third team.
Washington’s new front office, highlighted by team president Michael Winger, has its work cut out for it this summer. Along with possessing the No. 8 overall draft pick, the Wizards are facing a decision on Beal, as well as forward Kyle Kuzma, who’s expected to opt out of his contract and enter free agency.
For the record, Beal has a no-trade clause in his contract, something that is likely to complicate a potential deal. That said, he reportedly be open to a trade to Sacramento, per Charania and Amick.
The Kings are coming off a Pacific Division title and their first playoff appearance in 17 years. Presumably, they would want to keep point guard De’Aaron Fox and center Domantas Sabonis in any trade.
Beal is also reportedly drawing interest from the Heat and Bucks, among others. Follow our Wizards page for all the news out of DC.
