The Knicks have agreed to a three-year contract with power forward Jericho Sims, a move that will promote him to their standard roster, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Sims, 23, is 6-foot-10 and was selected by the Knicks with the No. 58 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He then signed a two-way deal with the team in August of last year.
Still, Sims appeared in 41 games with the Knicks and averaged 2.2 points and 4.1 rebounds.
As relayed by Ian Begley of SNY.tv, the fact Sims has agreed to a standard deal could lead to a two-way spot for this year’s second-round pick, shooting guard Trevor Keels (Duke, No. 42 overall).
“While the Knicks are trading away Nerlens Noel, the team fortified its frontcourt by re-signing Mitchell Robinson and agreeing to a deal with Isaiah Hartenstein. Sims will provide additional depth up front,” wrote Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.
