Knicks point guard Derrick Rose went through his second day of contact practice Thursday and could be available for Friday’s game vs. the Heat.
The Knicks could sure use Rose right about now, as they’ve reached agreement with point guard Kemba Walker to remove Walker from the lineup for the remainder of the season.
Rose suffered an ankle injury vs the Rockets in December. He was initially listed out for eight weeks.
Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau suggested that Alec Burks would start at point guard in Walker’s and Rose’s absence, though Burks is much more of a shooting guard or even small forward by nature.
Rose, 33, is 6-foot-2 and averaging 12.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 26 appearances this season. The former No. 1 overall pick isn’t the player he once was, but the Knicks (25-34) just never seem to be the same without him.
