The New York Knicks have reached an agreement with 19-year-old guard Dink Pate, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. While terms haven’t been disclosed, the deal is expected to be an Exhibit 10 contract.
Pate spent the 2024-25 season with the Mexico City Capitanes in the G League, averaging 10.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists over 34 games. He was selected to participate in the Next Up game at All-Star Weekend, a showcase for some of the league’s top young talent.
A former five-star recruit, Pate originally bypassed college to join the G League Ignite on a two-year deal. When the Ignite program folded last year, he attempted to enter the 2024 NBA Draft but was denied due to age restrictions. He remained draft-eligible in 2025 and went undrafted this week.
Still, there was plenty of interest. ESPN ranked him as the fourth-best available player not selected, while The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie slotted him at No. 71 on his overall draft board.
Pate is expected to join New York’s Summer League roster in Las Vegas next month, per Ian Begley of SNY. If he impresses, the Exhibit 10 deal could be converted into a two-way contract, or earn him a bonus of up to $85,000 if he’s waived and spends time with the Knicks’ G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks.
