Knicks Signing Rookie Guard To Two-Way Deal

The Knicks are signing undrafted rookie guard Boo Buie to a two-way contract, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.Boo Buie, Knicks, NBA

The spot became available after New York signed Ariel Hukporti, who had been on a two-way deal, to a standard deal.

Buie is 6-foot-2 and was not selected in the 2024 NBA Draft, but anyone who followed Big Ten hoops knows he was a difference-maker for Northwestern, where he put up 19 points and 5 assists per game as a senior. He also proved to be a gritty, do-it-all guard who brought toughness on both ends of the floor.

This move comes on the heels of the Knicks converting Hukporti to a standard contract, filling one of their open roster spots with a young big man who brings size, defensive versatility, and a developing offensive game.

With Hukporti and newly added sharpshooter Matt Ryan, the Knicks are adding complementary pieces to support their core, showing a solid mix of short-term impact and long-term potential.

Bringing in Buie on a two-way deal is a low-risk, high-upside play. If he can replicate even a fraction of his college production, he could earn a look at a full roster spot down the line. For a team with playoff aspirations, the Knicks are wisely bolstering their depth with guys who can grow in their system, and who knows, maybe even offer the kind of spark that turns games in their favor.
